I'm level 12 (or 14 or 16) and I only have 1 (or 2 or 3) mastery points. Where are my mastery points? I spent my Mastery Points but I do not have the new ability or tactic, what gives?
You receive a mastery point every other level from level 11 to level 21. At level 22, you earn one point every level. So at level 13, you earn a second point, at level 15 you earn a third point, so forth and so on, until level 22.

You do not acquire abilities just by putting points into the path. They are optional, like normal abilities and tactics. You must actually click the icon, turning it from red or grey to green, and then push the "Train" button, which costs an additional point. The first tactic, for example, is on the third bar. Put three points into the path to get that high. Then with your fourth point, click the tactic and hit "Train". That expends the point, the bar remains at three, but you now have the tactic. As you progress up the tree, remember to "purchase" the tactics and abilities you want with an additional point. You can skip over ones you do not want.

What trade skills are available in the game and how do they pair up?
There are two primary trade skills within the game; Apothecary and Talisman Making. Apothacary will produce potions that add unique buffs or damage potions to your character, while the Talisman Making gives you unique Talismans which can be added to armor and weapons to increase their stats.

In addition to the primary skills of Talisman Making and Apothecary there are four secondary trade skills that work in conjunction with the two primary skills. Cultivation and Butchering are to be used with the Apothecary trade skill, while Scavenging and Salvaging are to be used with the Talisman Making skill.

Which of the four secondary trade skills should I use in conjunction with my primary trade skill?
The choice of which secondary skill mainly depends on how you want to gather your materials and your future plans for the character you created.

The Butchering trade skill requires that you kill beasts and harvest then for their various parts to use as ingredients in your potions. As your Apothecary and Butchering trade skills increase, you will find that you will need to kill higher level beasts in order to obtain the more potent higher level ingredients. Killing higher level beasts with a lower level character may prove to be very difficult.

The Cultivation trade skill is unique in that it focuses on developing the level of the ingredients themselves. As you grow plants from low level seeds they have the chance of producing higher level seeds upon harvesting the plant. Therefore it is possible to obtain the highest level seeds (level 200) from the lowest level seed (level 1) through diligent cultivation efforts. You can also find most level 1 seeds being sold by vendors. However, there are level 200 seeds that are rare, dropped by only higher level characters, and are unable to be traded between players or characters.

In the Talisman Making primary trade skill and the Salvaging and Scavaging secondary trade skills you will need to have a higher level character in order to obtain the higher level components for your Talismans.

When utilizing the Scavaging secondary skill, you will need to kill higher level humanoids in order to retrieve the necessary components from their corpses. It is unique in that you can obtain talisman containers that can improve the chances of creating better talismans. In the Salvaging trade skill these containers have to be obtained in Public Quests or purchased from vendors or other players.

The Salvaging trade skill is unique in that you get to choose the primary components you would like your talisman to have. Like salvaging, you must rely on the level of equipment you have obtained in the world which is determined by the level and difficulty of the mob you killed. However, as you gather various pieces of armor and weapons from looting corpses, you then salvage them and choose the magical properties you would like to harness from the equipment. You receive components for your Talisman Making skill by destroying the equipment and choosing which property is most important to you. For example: If you have an axe that contains both strength and weapon skill buffs you can choose whether you would like a strength or weapon skill component for your talisman.

Regardless of which secondary skills you choose, please keep in mind that there are various rare and extremely rare weapons and seeds that are dropped by mobs of all levels. A lot of these seeds or weapons can be bind on pickup and are unable to be passed between characters.
