In another exclusive just for newsletter readers, this month we profile the WAAAGH! wielding Goblin Shaman and the Great Hammer wielding Dwarf Hammerer. Look for more career details and game system information in upcoming newsletters.

The Goblin Shaman
"Sticks 'n' stones'll break my bones, but Gork and Mork'll smash yer 'ead to bits if'n you don't sod off you big bugger!"
- Gahzbag, Goblin Shaman telling off a Giant

The Dwarf Hammerer
"Take a rock, say as tall as a dwarf, and roll it down a mountain side. Now imagine it with a beard and a hammer, and you've almost got the idea of a Hammerer."
- Johondor, Dwarf Storyteller

This month's featured zone is Black Fire Pass, home to the legendary Bugman's Brewery.

Black Fire Pass has been the site of many battles throughout the course of history, but none were as significant as the first which was fought there. At Black Fire Pass, a great force of Dwarfs led by King Kurgan Ironbeard joined with a human army under the command of a young hero named Sigmar to confront and ultimately destroy a great horde of greenskins. Following the battle, King Ironbeard swore a great oath that for all time, the Dwarfs would safeguard the eastern mountain approaches to the lands of men. In the following year, Sigmar was made the first Emperor, uniting the scattered tribes of humans under one banner.

The ancient and bitter conflict between the Dark Elves and their hated kin, the High Elves is very much at the heart of the Age of Reckoning. It is the Witch King Malekith's obsession with reclaiming the throne of Ulthuan - a birthright denied him by weak-blooded High Elves a millennia ago - that sets in motion the events that engulf the lands in the flames of war.

The Assault on Lothern
By Paul Dainton

This is the final painting commissioned by EA Mythic to illustrate the events leading up to the Age of Reckoning. This painting details the Dark Elf invasion of Ulthuan and their attack on the capital city of Lothern. Along the shores of Eataine, a battle rages between a High Elf Dragon Prince and a Dark Elf Cold One Knight as Witch Elves and Corsairs rush to join the fray.

Fact: "Alpha" is one of those key points in a game's development that is specifically designed to torture the fans. It lets them know that the game (which is awesome and life-affirming and worth canceling all of your plans, dreams and birthday parties for) is playable... yet out of reach.

"I remember waiting around in the rain in Tacoma, Washington in 1985 so that I could buy a copy of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. I still have that book. I still remember the way I felt when I saw that orange-haired Slayer on the front cover sticking an axe into a goblin. There's a connection that Warhammer hobbyists have with the table-top and role-playing games that goes beyond loyalty."

"To be honest, everything's an influence (ok, well, maybe not EVERYTHING). I play a lot of different kinds of games. Watch a lot of different kinds of movies. I watch a lot of animation. Some things are directly translatable, like some Animal Planet special that's got a great shot of buzzards fighting over a carcass. Some are more oblique, like the rhythm of some fight sequence or song."

Who will win the fight between
the Dark Elf Witch Elf and the
High Elf Mage?

Winner: Dark Elf Witch Elf
(71% of the votes)

Loser: High Elf Mage
(29% of the votes)

Why?

Apparently winning has a lot to do with female anatomy. We should have known better than asking this question! Here are some of the responses we could print in a family friendly newsletter:

"High Elf fails his concentration check."
- Prityana

"She's a femme fatale. Kills people and looks great doing it."
- Devin

"Two swords beat a silly stick!"
- Dave

"She reminds me of my ex-wife!"
- Patrick

"Less clothes equals more killing"
- Sean

"She uses L'Oreal and she's worth it."
- Munir

"Because I would let her beat me!"
- Rob

An our staff favorite -
"Hamster, a Dentist, Steven Seagal!"
- Berg
