Welcome to Warhammer Online's June newsletter! Call to Arms, WAR's first 'live expansion,' is wrapping up and the Land of the Dead is here! We've completed the Bitter Rivals live event, and WAR's newest careers, the Orc Choppa and Dwarf Slayer, are now live. Beyond the Sands has finished up and Rise of the Tomb Kings concluded just this week. The best part is now here; the Land of the Dead, a massive new Tomb Kings dungeon zone!

Library of Zandri
The Land of the Dead, the culmination of WAR's first 'live expansion,' Call to Arms, is finally here! Gather your allies, contribute to winning Realm Access to the Land of the Dead, and be one of the first to search the sands of Zandri for treasure, notoriety, and adventure! Zandri is fraught with many dangers, and the desert crawls with enemies heretofore unseen in the Old World. Explore the Necropolis, plunder the Four Tombs, and strive to breach the Tomb of the Vulture Lord. Who knows? Perhaps you will be the one to slay King Amenemhetum, claim his Casket of Souls, and call forth the wrath of the Colossus!

A number of new Public Quests can be found throughout both the Necropolis of Zandri and the Tomb of the Vulture Lord. Each one poses challenges and mechanics heretofore unseen, and they are all inured with the distinctive flavor of the Land of the Dead. From a quarry where massive and ancient bones are unearthed by skeletal workers to the personal treasure trove of the Vulture Lord, players who venture into Nehekhara will have plenty of opportunities to explore the mysteries that this ancient land has to offer.

Library of Zandri
Such was the Vulture Lord's thirst for knowledge that he ordered the construction of a vast library. Rich with lore from across the known world, all of it collected during Amenemhetum's lifetime, the Library of Zandri is practically a sentient creature unto itself..

Sepulcher of Eternity
Many vaults and chambers can be found within the Tomb of the Vulture Lord, but one of the most terrifying is known as the Sepulcher of Eternity. It is here that Amenemhetum's most powerful Liche Priests are interred when they succumb to what the Nehekharans refer to as the 'Death Sleep.'

The Land of the Dead is home to a number of horrifying creatures that are new to Warhammer Online. Many of these monsters can be encountered throughout the Necropolis of Zandri, providing new challenges for all players. From the rank and file of Amenemhetum's skeleton legions, to the intimidating Eternal Sentinels that patrol the deserts that surround Zandri, as well as the Carrion that darken the skies above, these myriad creatures provide a flavor that is unique to this innovative and exciting zone.

Ushabti
One of the most visually impressive Nehekharan monsters is the Ushabti. Used by the Vulture Lord as guardians, Ushabti are built to resemble the deities of Nehekhara -- both to inspire courage in the Tomb King's allies, as well as to arouse terror in his enemies.

Liche Priests
While the armies of the Vulture Lord teem with mindless Undead automatons, Amenemhetum's Liche Priests represent one of the few forms of sentient Undead in the Land of the Dead. Forming the backbone of the Tomb King's Mortuary Cult, the Liche Priests are ultimately responsible for ensuring that his armies are well-maintained.

High Priest Herakh
Surviving the dangers of the Tomb of the Vulture Lord is a formidable task, and it is further complicated by the presence of several unique bosses. One of these bosses, High Priest Herakh, represents a daunting challenge to anyone who dares to seek an audience with Amenemhetum.

King Amenemhetum, the Vulture Lord
From his lofty seat atop his dreadful Tomb, Amenemhetum oversees his vast desert kingdom. Rudely awakened by the outlanders from the north, the Vulture Lord is a stranger to the concepts of mercy and compassion. He will not rest again until the interlopers have been dealt with, and their homelands are left in conquered ruins.

Gigamedia, Mythic’s partner for running Warhammer Online in Taiwan, kicked off their open beta this month in style, with a fun filled celebration. Mythic’s very own Creative Director, Paul Barnett, was sent to the festivities to represent Warhammer Online and all its glory. After an excruciatingly long flight, Paul landed in Taiwan and was whisked straight to the event with little more than an hour of rest.  Once he arrived he was immediately overwhelmed by its grandeur.

Beautiful actresses adorned in Sorceress and Shadow Warrior costumes stood in pose, while acrobats preformed incredible stunts and tricks along to the music. There was even an actor dressed in a full squig battle armor costume that accompanied the other performers! Paul gave an impromptu speech, posed with the performers, and accidentally smashed a giant Warhammer Online ice sculpture.

“It was impressive, expensive, riotous, enjoyable, and a full on endeavor, proving to me that the Taiwanese are committed to success. They even had great gifts, including a miniature squeaky toy squig. Without a doubt it was the best launch party of Warhammer Online to date.”
