Episode 11: Temple of Isha and Tor Anroc

Welcome, folks, to another episode of Scenarios 101! With this episode, we're stepping deeper into Tier 3 High Elf vs. Dark Elf Scenarios.

Temple of Isha

Temple of Isha is a 12 vs. 12 Scenario based on the woodlands of Avelorn. Tier 3 players and high Tier 2 players can join this Scenario.

Temple of Isha is a basic King of the Hill match: fight to control the temple ruins and generate points over time. When the temple is captured, Isha's Will spawns near the player spawn points. Carrying this object will give your Realm points over time as long as you hold it. Be warned though -- to continue yielding Isha's Will, you have to keep killing enemy players! Killing players while carrying Isha's Will also gives you double the Scenario points per player kill.

This Scenario can be separated into three areas: within the temple ruins, outside of the initial entry way into the temple, and near the altar of Isha's Will. Paths lead out from the spawn locations to either a frontal assault on the temple or around the back via higher ground. Using the back route into the temple takes a little bit longer, but gives you distinct cover advantages as opposed to rushing in through a bottleneck. This other path also leads all the way around to the enemies back path into the temple ruins.

Tactics in this Scenario favor unified assaults against fortified positioning. Isha's temple ruins are highly defendable from the front arch via bottlenecks. If the enemy has the temple controlled, it's in your best interest to go around and hit them from behind. Trying to break through the front archway on an entrenched team is almost impossible. Attrition of a defending Realm can be increased by carrying Isha's Will. This buff gives the player carrying it considerably more damage, so it's in your best interest to get ranged or melee DPS carrying this object and hammer entrenched healers. A healer carrying Isha's Will does your Realm no good except for the points over time for carrying it. Defenders keeping the temple ruins safe can hole up right on the flag. Be warned of players rushing in and using knockback abilities to spread out defenders. The ruins give swarthy attackers considerable cover against the wide open flag space. Capturing the temple is the way to win this Scenario, but using Isha's Will can keep the score close in this classic King of the Hill fight!

Tor Anroc

Tor Anroc is a 12 vs. 12 Scenario in Tier 3 High Elf vs. Dark Elf that's based in the volcanic hollows of Tor Anroc. Any Tier 3 player or high level Tier 2 player can join this Scenario.

This Scenario is in a volcano... meaning there's lava! Narrow and winding paths stretch from player spawn points leading to the Brimstone Bauble in the center of the map. Alternate paths to flank the enemy who retreats with the Bauble is available to both Realms as well but every path leads over treacherous terrain. Some islands of solid rock exist in the play-space, but they're not easily traveled to, nor desired to stay on. All in all, this Scenario offers little to no cover and is an open field battle 100% of the time.

The rules are very simple in this Scenario: take and hold the Brimstone Bauble to earn points over time and double the points you earn from killing enemy players! The Bauble also generates massive amounts of heat, so carrying this object will eventually kill you due to scaling damage over time (DoT) being inflicted on the carrier.

Let's get right out and say it... this Scenario is a game of positioning and awareness on a player by player basis. If you're not paying attention to your surroundings and who's around you, you're going to end up in the lava from someone's knock-back. Virtually anywhere in this map can land you in a hot spot of trouble if the right class is coming at you from the wrong angle. Be aware! Also remember that holding the Bauble is not a guaranteed victory. The other Realm can wipe the floor with your own blood-stained armor and pull a win out of their hats if you don't manage to take the fight to them! That's not to say "grab and hide" tactics don't work... but your team has to keep the Bauble held while not getting repeatedly killed if the carrier isn't going to kill anyone themselves. But again, this Scenario is all about positioning and global awareness. If you play with horse-blinders on, you're going to walk out of Tor Anroc with a few pieces of singed armor!

That's it for this episode of Scenarios 101! Stay tuned for Tier 4 Scenarios of High elf vs. Dark Elf!
